Home Sweet Home
From a simple search of "North Carolina" published 1900-1945 in all the WebFeat databases, I got what I expected. The numbers ARE outrageous, but the distribution of hits over the databases was interesting...
Eclectic Desktop
For my five items, I entered books that are on my desk at work right now. Up to 200 books for free! It's a shame I can't use it for books at home!

Week 4
Not being sure of what I'm comfortable calling this process, I'll stick to Week 4. It went more quickly than I expected. I didn't have to create any more usernames, ids, passwords, etc. I signed up for topics that interest me outside of LibraryLand. Next for me, will be accessing this at home. No headphones, wahoo!

Next Technological Challenge
Digital photography, here I come. Knowing that there's a good photographer in me, I'm looking forward to experimenting, because it was a significant price to pay for film and developing before. Once I figure out the mechanics that I'm confident I can do expeditiously, then the real fun begins -- where and how to store my images. One of these days I might put one of my pictures in here!

Slow Morning in LibraryLand
Nearly 1/2 hour at my cubicle, and it seems like I'm alone here. LibraryLand is where all rules outside, and inside, of itself are not necessarily true to the spirit or the letter. Clocks in LibraryLand never synchronize. Today I alone front my department, and somewhat enjoy the quiet before the storm -- 10am the flood-gates open and the internet parade begins. Rarely does the public patiently wait an our doorsteps to ask a reference question.
I'm not awake enough to appreciate the opportunity to use this quiet time productively, as least for far as composition and comprehension are concerned, and I move on to another task, still exercising my mind but my body too. What could that be? My top two are weeding, and shelfreading. Deep knee bends, lifting shifting weights...something kinetic.

Night Owl not Early Bird
Wow, can you believe it? Yes, it's true - it's 8am and I'm awake enough to compose a sentence! I saw somebody else's directions yesterday saying that in our first post, I was supposed to tell about what this 2.0 project means to me. I didn't find those directions for myself, but here goes anyhow...
This cheese-approved exercise into the Web 2.0 means that I get to (or in this have to in a given time) experiment with platforms of the internet that were not always even allowed on our LAN. I'm looking forward to being able to help patrons that need help using these platforms. For them, it's hit or miss, some of us (the Reference Department staff) are techy and some aren't, and some are more willing to experiment. Time is always a crunch. I'd dare say that most of the time, we cannot afford desk time to help patrons figure out all their internet snafus. RATS is always helpful. I have read a few blogs, but only the ones that I've come across while internet searching.
Anyone else reading this, I have a few words to the wise. Please be careful how much and what kind of personal information that put out on the web. I do genealogy, and have found father bragging on their elementary school kids, by personal name and school name, and with snapshots. Please consider the safety of yourself, and other, while you blog.
Wow, I can even be serious this early in the a.m. Scary, huh? But the librarian in me kicked-in big-time. Have a wonderful day. Go out and make a difference!

Hello, Cruel World
The ides of May are here. I bear no sense of forboding! Today, I found something that was lost, and lost something more precious. I am hopeful for today, full of 'things to do' that are within my grasp. What I am most grateful for today is time with my mother. She says I'm her gift from God. She's my rock, represents home-home, shares family history, knows me better than myself, and listens to me no matter what. I pray to God, then I think what would Momma think! Today, I begin on the right foot (correct, not the opposite of left - LOL).
